Tumbleweed Day Camp
Tumbleweed Day Camp was founded in 1954 by Patti and Gene Tucker. It was built to be a place where children could grow, learn and excel, as well as enjoy the beautiful surroundings. The family atmosphere they created is evidenced by the fact that former camp children are now camp parents, former counselors have married and are now sending their children to camp, and former campers have worked their way from being in the youngest group all the way to being a counselor. Now over 1,200 children enroll in our programs each summer. Our camp is accredited by the American Camp Association, which means that we meet, and exceed, basic safety and development standards that have been set for camps all over the country.
The Best Summer Camp for Your Little One!
Perfect for campers entering PK-2nd grade, this program is designed to foster growth and development in a safe and nurturing environment. Activities are child centered, helping campers learn new skills and build social competencies. Your child must be at least 4 years old when starting camp.
Our younger campers start the day off with morning round-up where they join their counselors and groups and greet each other with songs and laughter. A typical day consists of five periods of various traditional and unique day camp activities. Each day will always include swimming and lunch. Activities alternate between high and low energy. In the afternoon, our campers enjoy a snack and get ready for afternoon round-up where they sit with their bus route and participate in skits and songs through dismissal.
Growing Strong At Tumbleweed North
Tumbleweed North is designed for campers that are entering grades 3 through 8. This program focuses on making friends, gaining independence, and being able to share the responsibilities of working as a team through various traditional and unique day camp activities. A typical day at Tumbleweed North consists of morning Pow-Wow, followed by five periods of various traditional and unique day camp activities. Swimming and lunch occur daily. Activities also alternate between high and low energy. The day ends with snack and afternoon Pow-Wow, where campers enjoy skits and performances as they get ready for transportation home.
North campers have the opportunity to stay on overnights throughout the summer. Find out more about overnight camps here.
